Air Force uses PS3, not the Wii

Playstation Server

The Air Force Research Laboratory has announced it has connected almost 2,000 PS3′s together making it the Department of Defense’s fastest interactive supercomputer. Using PS3s as servers instead of traditional computer based servers, the Air Force is not only saving money, but also saving 10 times as much power consumption costs and several other benefits.

Using the older version of the PS3, the Linux operating system can be installed. This allows the full harnessing of the PS3′s raw power. Department of defense worked directly with Sony with this concept. Other branches and government organisations will have access in sharing this whopping 500 billion operations per second.

That’s all folks!

Wii could never do this, but what it CAN do, is games.

could do the same thing with a wii with some hacking, not nintendos fault that sony feels that they need to both copy wii concepts and sell more of a computer than a game concele in order to compete with nintendo.

also, if a simple thing like this is all you could come up with in over a year, you are clearly grasping at straws

The only reason for this is that earlier versions of PS3′s software allowed you to partition the hard disk and install third-party operating systems.

The Wii couldn’t do that, and the reason why is it’s strictly for GAMES. If you want something for a computer, you buy a full computer system, such as a desktop or a laptop. Not a game console. The Wii is just a console with additional features and options to enhance the experience, but NOT a computer.
