What a horrible game. The House of the Dead was at one point a leading arcade game in the early 90′s. It sparked a revolution in arcade games and first person shooters. Now, in 2009 The House of the Dead has… well… Overkilled its self. Sega couldn’t cut a new system after the Genesis, so publishing it to Nintendo it was.
The Wii is great for little kids right? Not with this game. This game has some of the most graphic violence and language out on the market right now. If you bought a Wii for your children make sure they steer clear of this game. Blood oozes and squirts out of bodies. You can’t go 30 seconds without hearing a foul word or derogatory vocabulary.
The game play is very slow and lagging. Due to the lack of processing power built into the Wii, action addicts will be severely disappointed in playing this game. Once the big action gets going and you are shooting tons of enemies, as the chaos fills your screen icons and sprites start to disappear at random. The Wii cannot keep up with the game and the screen jumps around a bit. To give the Wii credit, it is not *that* bad of a freeze, but this doesn’t discount there is noticeable lag.
So shoot the bad guys – if you can! Using the Wiimote can only go so far before your hand starts to cramp up and carpel tunnel syndrome sets in. The House of the Dead Overkill is another bad game, for a bad gaming console.

I am not a Wii fanboy seeming as I like PS3 too so don’t even think of starting that crap. You guys are lame is the only sane and sensible person on this site apart from me. I have HOTD and it is good unlike most games on the Shitbox 360.

Alright! the game is actually fun there IS some noticable lag at times, but it doesnt ruin gameplay so stop exagerating. i dont like the wii very much compared to other consoles cuz its hardware truly isnt that great but o well.. nintendo are dumbasses for making this “next gen console” with shit hardware… I must say id of liked this game SOOOOOOOOOOO much BETTER if they didnt have so many curse words and all that crap.. its like a newer, bad horror movie where they have to say “fuck” in every sentence. other then the wii being a piece a crap and all the stupidy and nonscence in the game it was rather fun…

First of all. My ps3 has corrupted several times, and my 360 has got the red ring twice. I put my wii above both of them for reliability alone.
As for games that are passable? koolio you obviously don’t know anything about games if you say there’s only one passable game, so shut your mouth.
Twilight princess is amazing, resident evil umbrella chronicles is flawless, and WAY better than this piece of crap HOTD Overkill. Smash bros is great, no more heroes is AMAZING, Okami, and resident evil 4 are great ports, both trauma centers are awesome too, metroid rocks.

As for this particular game, I agree entirely. HOTD overkill is a fucking piece of shit. I hate this game more than any other game I’ve ever played, and that’s saying something.
The slowdown from the terrible framerate, and the graphics, voice acting, story, and over the top “trying too hard” way the game is set up all wraps up to make a huge piece of shit that no one should play. Fuck anyone that likes this game.

so thats the list, but keep in mind that the 360 and ps3 have a list of games that is probably 3 or 4 time bigger thand this one.
Guys, as someone who’s bought all 3 current gen consoles, I can say that I don’t have a favourite. I’ve had to have my PS3 replaced twice due to manufacturing faults, but my Wii and 360 have yet to go wrong. I have nothing wrong with this game, having played through it, and I can honestly say that there was no lag or slowdown and, as for the swearing, it’s supposed to be in the style of a grindhouse B movie, so there’s going to be a lot of swearing, isn’t there. Like others have said, this bickering about how one console is better than another is ridiculous.
Dawn of the disgust.. So i rented this game, i was borrowing my sibblings wii. I was interested in this game based on my love for zombies. There has been a number of great zombie games like left4dead, cod5, dead rising ect. Yet this game is possibly lamer than even area51. On-rail shooters are a thing of the past, and should stay that way. A 3d on-rail shooter? are you for real? I wanted to return this game right away after 3 minutes of playing and wanted a refund by commenting “it was the worst game i’ve ever played”. Even medeocore games like the wii release of farcry was a far cry from the lameness of this title. I had more fun playing typing of the dead (Even Mavis Beacon on a power mac)(yes i abhor macs too). The silent hill 4 remake will fill your zombie needs, even though it’s still not that captivating. Stick to zelda, and/or party games like mariokart, smashbros, and warioware smoothmoves.

Thats funny, all those types of people seem like “the average gamer” to me.
you people obviously do not get the humor intended on this game… it is made to look shitty with over the top gore and foul language. It is designed an post exploitation / B-movie style, much like Planet Terror (again a film lots of people didn’t get as they couldn’t associate a zombie film with comedy) which is what this game is all about, post ironic B-movie humor!
now get some mates around, get pizza and a few beers in and take it in turns to shoot and lol at the shitty script, over the top bad acting and ridiculous amount of violence.
The hardware isn’t always at fault. Most of the time, it’s the software. Not only have I seen that some of the poor performance rate claims are false and that it performs fine, but you could have high-end graphics and the latest 3GHz quad-core processor that just blows the competition away, but if the software isn’t optimised for it, it’s not going to be of much use.
If you’re going to blame anyone, blame the software manufacturer for not completely optimizing the software and not getting rid of all the bugs and extra fat. Don’t blame Nintendo or the Wii. Software is not going to perform well if it’s not written good enough, even if you do have top-of-the-line graphics and processors.
alot of people say this is a good game and if its not a game for kids then their parents shouldnt buy it….
